Awards and acceleration

BIW started 2006 by winning the prestigious Building Entrepreneur of the year Award. The award citation commended BIW for its growth and for building "long-term relationships with the great and good of the client world: Sainsbury’s, BAA and Land Securities among them." It continued: "heavy use of BIW’s products by industry leaders had removed an estimated 20 million paper documents from circulation – no mean feat for a company set up by three men less than six years ago."

In May 2006, BIW also held its first national user conference at the Oval conference centre in London, showcasing recent developments and giving users a foretaste of new functionality including BIW: Financial Control and its first mobile working solution.

On 30 September 2006, BIW completed its sixth straight year of growth, moving into a period of sustained profitability. BIW turnover had grown to £4.66m, up from £4m the previous year. This steady, predictable revenue growth translated into monthly trading profits from May 2006 onwards.

BIW also set new records for adoption of its service in 2006, registering 12,426 new users, and a further 1149 user organisations – partly stimulated by corporate deals with Dandara, Fitzpatrick, Canary Wharf Contractors and House of Fraser, among others. Its system saw 2.8 million logins during the year, with more than one million original documents and drawings (excluding copies) being published.

In 2007 BIW sustained the profitability and growth trends of 2006, and began to establish an international presence. It set up a new software development and support centre in India and a new hosting centre in Dubai to serve its Middle East customers and projects.
