BIW has been a member of Constructing Excellence dating back to its origins as the Design Build Foundation. The DBF merged in late 2002 with the Reading Construction Forum to become BE – now the Building & Estates Forum of Constructing Excllence.

BIW staff are active in the organisation at the national level (BIW marketing chief Paul Wilkinson has served on the Council of Constructing Excellence, is a BE steering group member, and a Collaborative Working Champion); BIW is also involved with the management of the CE Surrey Club (the local group closest to its Woking head office), and has also contributed speakers to club meetings in Bristol, Milton Keynes and Oxford, among others.

BIW is also a founder member of the NCCTP, and an IT Partner in another Constructing Excellence group, the IT Construction Forum.
