In 2000, alongside Colin Smith and Bill Flind, Andrew Boaden helped found BIW Technologies, taking on the role of executive chairman. He relinquished executive responsibilities in 2006, and now serves as the company’s non-executive chairman. He helps the management team set the company’s strategy, and helps ensure BIW Technologies has the right resources to execute it.

Before co-founding BIW Technologies, Andrew Boaden helped establish Team Systems Group (now part of Misys plc), a UK company supplying Unix-based accounting and office automation systems to the construction and distribution sectors. At different stages of Team's growth, Boaden was sales director and customer service director. Following the sale to Misys, he was appointed managing director of Team.

Since 1991, Boaden has been a 50% partner (with Flind) in a private investment vehicle which has provided seed capital to start-up and early stage businesses. In this capacity, he has taken the role of non-executive chairman or director, and has helped the full-time management teams to achieve their goals. To date, one of the businesses has been the subject of a trade sale, and three others are now established and trading successfully.
