ASITE AND BIW GROW PROJECT COLLABORATION 19 February 2002 Asite and BIW today reaffirmed their commitment to offer the BIW Information Channel collaboration web service to Asite’s customers in line with their original plans. BIW Information Channel is currently being deployed on 13 Asite projects including the giant Paternoster Square scheme as well as Phase II of the Treasury redevelopment and Chiswick Park. Alastair Mellon, managing director of Asite, said: “Collaboration is a critical first step for companies to adopt new, open ways of working, but we have always felt that customer choice is paramount. It is acknowledged now that, by working with best-in-class suppliers, sourcing a range of quality web-based tools and then wrapping Asite’s added-value services around it all, we are building a powerful business model. More importantly, we are also offering clients a highly attractive way to make a real difference to the efficiency, profitability and performance of the whole supply chain.”
Colin Smith, chief executive of BIW said: “We have always applauded Asite's objectives, and would like to see as many firms as possible using the services provided by both of our companies. “I am particularly encouraged that Stanhope plc, a major Asite shareholder, has already adopted BIW Information Channel as its standard collaboration platform. We all want to see the industry benefit from the widespread use of web services and our new agreement represents the basis of a solid, long-term relationship between Asite and BIW.”
