BIW LINKS UP WITH RAMESYS 01 May 2002
Two of the UK construction industry’s leading information technology providers, BIW Technologies (BIW) and Ramesys, have established a strategic partnership to grow the market for their products and services. BIW currently delivers collaboration web services used by around 14,000 people in just under 1900 companies, working on more than 650 projects worth a total of around £5 billion. Ramesys Construction Services is the largest IT solution provider to the construction industry supply chain with a 27-year pedigree. Ramesys’ applications are used on a daily basis by over 2000 UK contractors, including more than half of the top fifty. Mark Chambers, Ramesys acting managing director, said: “We selected BIW as the best in class provider of collaboration technology, wanting to create an alliance between two trusted, premier brands. Companies like Citex and Interior Services Group are already enthusiastic users of applications from both companies, and we aim to increase the number of businesses using our combined range of software products and e-management services. This partnership will also help promote collaborative working, increasing integration between project collaboration systems and back office applications.” BIW chief executive Colin Smith said: “The products and services of the two companies complement each other well, bringing together project-focused services with the software tools needed for companies’ back office administration. We have already identified how Ramesys can seamlessly integrate our BIW Information Channel collaboration system into its Portal offering. Project team members will be able to use the Channel to share drawings and other documents, and then drill down to view relevant information stored in their Ramesys-powered back office systems.” Since its launch in 1998, BIW Information Channel has become the most widely used collaboration web service in the UK. Clients include Sainsbury’s, Capital One Bank, Marks & Spencer, Manchester Airport, Defence Estates, Ocado, the Welsh Development Agency, Asda, the Wellcome Trust, Stanhope and Kajima.
