BIW TO EXPAND SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT AND SUPPORT FUNCTIONS 1 October 2007 BIW Technologies (BIW), a global leader in Software-as-a-Service applications to support the construction and facilities management industries, is expanding its operations by opening a development and support centre in Vadodara, in the Indian state of Gujarat, with the assistance of Quickstart Global. The India-based team will conduct two roles for the company. First, it will provide additional resources to work with BIW's UK-based product management and software teams on the continued development of BIW's core products. Second, it will provide an additional centre for customer support, initially to BIW's growing customer base across the Middle East and in Dubai in particular. The new BIW team will be based at Quickstart Global's delivery centre in Vadodara. Quickstart Global is providing BIW with 'captive' offshoring services, facilitating the recruitment of high-calibre employees and providing their working environment. Two experienced BIW managers have relocated to Vadodara to run the operation and to ensure the new team is fully trained in BIW's processes. "This approach significantly reduces the risks involved in establishing our own offshore development and support centre in India," says Colin Smith, BIW's chief executive. "As UK market leader, generating around twice the revenues of our nearest UK competitor, we plan to extend our market dominance. Increasing the speed at which we enhance our products and improving the services that we offer to our existing customers are two key parts of our strategy. "The captive model gives us greater control than offshore outsourcing. We can control the quality of staff working for us, control the quality of work they do, control how they interface with our UK-based team, and control the development of our knowledge and intellectual property." Neal Gandhi, Chief Executive Officer of Quickstart Global said: "BIW's decision to work with Quickstart Global to establish their captive development and support centre provides further validation that our model is the most suitable offshore option for ISVs and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) vendors. Our clients in this space are telling us that the balancing act of enhancing an existing product, developing new products and remaining profitable is increasingly difficult, particularly with staff costs and turnover rates rising in most western economies. We believe we offer a very attractive and sustainable solution to those conflicting challenges." - ends - More information from: Notes to editors About BIW: - Project collaboration services from BIW Technologies (www.biwtech.com) were first employed in 1999 on UK construction projects for Sainsbury's.
