BIW TO SPONSOR GULF STATES BUILDING AWARDS 2008

Software-as-a-Service pioneer to boost profile in Middle East region

17 July 2008

BIW Technologies, one of the world’s leading providers of online construction project control software, is to sponsor an award in the inaugural Gulf States Building Awards.

BIW is sponsoring the "Best mixed use development" category of the Awards, which are to be presented at a ceremony at the Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai on Thursday 13 November 2008.

Organised by Building magazine and endorsed by the Emirates Green Building Council, the Awards will highlight the most exceptional projects across the six member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates). The awards will recognise significant achievements in sustainability, innovation and overall project excellence, underline the growing importance of the Gulf to UK construction, and highlight the region’s leading role in construction around the world.

According to BIW chief executive Colin Smith, the sponsorship decision followed two years of growth in its operations in the Gulf States:

"BIW has opened a Middle East operations office and, having secured several substantial clients in the region, including a five-year corporate adoption with Dubai's largest property developer Nakheel, established a hosting facility in the region in 2007.

"Sponsoring an award will help boost recognition of the BIW brand in the Middle East region, and the mixed use category is particularly applicable to our business, given the widespread use of the sophisticated BIW process management platform on projects of this kind."
