BIW LAUNCHES TRAINING ACADEMY AND DELIVERS FIRST ´MASTER CLASS´

Tuesday, June 20, 2006

BIW Technologies has established a new ‘Training Academy’ as a focal point for all training initiatives relating to its BIW Information Channel collaboration platform. Details were announced at the BIW national conference in London on 16 May 2006, and the first ‘BIW Master Class’ took place at the end of May.

The BIW Training Academy provides courses in using BIW applications for users of varying levels of experience, from basic, first-time users through to experienced administrators wanting to expand their skills and system knowledge.

For example, the first one-day BIW Master Class, entitled: “Enhancing the Drawing and Document Approvals Process”, was held at BIW’s own training facility in Woking, Surrey, on Wednesday 31 May.

“BIW Master Classes bring together experienced BIW Information Channel users to learn, discuss and trial ideas with the support of a BIW consultant,” says Hannah Jones, manager of the BIW Training Academy. “The classes will help key users to discover how other successful project teams operate, learn innovative ways to apply functionality, and share good practice.

“We are also planning a series of one-day ‘Advanced Functionality’ workshops. These are intended for users who have completed basic user training, and are ideal for helping project information coordinators (PICs), document controllers and other high-usage users get best value from the Channel. Workshops will cover the BIW VCE viewer, administration, publishing and process management.”

Basic user’s courses cost £175 (excl VAT) per delegate (minimum six delegates per course). Master Classes and Advanced Functionality courses cost £250 per day, £125 for half-day courses (excl VAT), per delegate (minimum of four delegates per course). Courses held at BIW’s Woking training room include tuition, room hire, computer use, connectivity, interactive whiteboard, refreshments, lunch, brief notes and an attendance certificate.
