Colin Smith co-founded BIW Technologies in 2000 with Bill Flind and Andrew Boaden, and has served as the company’s chief executive ever since. In that role, he has led the development of BIW’s market-leading software, creating a solid foundation for the company’s current and future growth, both domestically and overseas. In the past three years, the company has reported  average annual revenue growth of around 25%.

Smith leads the business and is the architect of BIW's SaaS-based business model. During the formation of the business in 2000, he drew upon his personal experience and the experience of the rest of the management team to develop the vision upon which the company's powerful value proposition to the whole construction procurement supply chain is built.

Underlining his keen interest in ICT standards, Smith was for a while a board member of the UK Chapter of the International Alliance for Interoperability, and was instrumental in the formation of the UK extranet vendors' association, the Network of Construction Collaboration Technology Providers (NCCTP).

Colin has been working as a software technology professional in the construction-computing area since the early 1980s. During the 1990s he was a director of two of the construction industry’s leading software specialists, dealing at main board level with major construction companies worldwide.
