ISG RENEWS COMMITMENT TO BIW WITH THREE-YEAR DEAL Contractor extends technology partnership established in 2001 28 May 2008 New build, refurbishment and fit-out contractor Interior Services Group plc (ISG) has signed a new three-year corporate deal with BIW Technologies (BIW) to use its Software-as-a-Service construction collaboration platform. ISG operates in the UK, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, and first used the BIW system on a multi-million pound project for a City of London law firm in 2001, signing its first corporate deal with BIW in November that year. ISG is currently using the BIW platform to support over 200 project-based staff on more than 20 projects. These range from the fit-out of the new Eurostar terminal at St Pancras International Station for London & Continental Railways to a £100m new build development in the Spitalfields area of the City of London. Previous ISG projects undertaken with BIW include the refurbishment of the Brunswick retail and commercial centre in Bloomsbury for Allied London Properties, the £32m revamp of Doncaster Racecourse for Arena Leisure, and the Norton Rose fit-out at 3 More London Riverside. "Our strategy has been to integrate the communication power of web-based technologies into our customer service," says ISG director Chris Bock. "As managers of the construction process, we look to simplify project complexity for property owners, occupiers and developers, and BIW is the ideal platform to support this." "We are happy with the level of service and functionality BIW delivers," adds ISG's quality systems manager Adrienne Matheson. "Feedback from users is highly positive, with many project and financial managers now dependent on it for the successful running of their projects due to its immediacy, accessibility and audit trail of documents and processes such as RFIs, instructions and change orders. Some of our clients request we use their own systems – which has been useful for comparison purposes – but our strong relationship with BIW and the experience we have accumulated have justified our original decision and we continue to increase BIW use among our projects." ISG’s estimating departments use the BIW platform to distribute information to sub-contractors when the company is bidding for new work. ISG has also worked with developer clients, tailoring BIW's flexible security options to make certain elements of project information available to potential tenants. BIW chief executive Colin Smith says: "Back in 2001, we talked to ISG about building an effective, rewarding and long-standing relationship as two client-focused companies. I am delighted that ISG remains just as committed to that approach as we do." - ends - More information, please contact: Notes to editors: BIW - Project control and collaboration services from BIW Technologies (www.biwtech.com) were first employed in 1999 on UK construction projects for Sainsbury’s.
