SaaS specialist selected by iconic Dubai developer

25 March 2008

BIW Technologies (BIW) has signed a corporate agreement with Nakheel, Dubai's leading property developer, to deliver Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications to manage and deliver Nakheel's development projects throughout the United Arab Emirates.

BIW, a global leader in SaaS applications for the architecture, engineering, construction, property and infrastructure sectors, will support Nakheel project teams working on numerous major developments across the United Arab Emirates.

Nakheel's projects include the 1.4 billion square foot Waterfront development, the internationally renowned The Palm trilogy and The World. Nakheel's developments will include more than 250 hotel projects and over the next two decades the company will provide residences accommodating around three million people. With more than 2000 employees, Nakheel currently has US$60 billion worth of major projects under development.

"We wanted a robust, scalable, industry-strength project control system to support the multi-company, multi-disciplinary supply chains involved in designing and constructing our developments," said Michaella Kerckhof, Nakheel’s Chief Information Officer. "BIW's application suite will complement the powerful system we use to manage our internal business processes, and will support tens of thousands of anticipated users all over the globe."

Nakheel is implementing new and innovative operational processes to drive the rapid growth of the organisation internationally, aiming to establish itself as the world's leading property developer by 2012.

"BIW is committing significant development and consultancy resources to meeting Nakheel’s exacting requirements," says Dr Asif Sharif, BIW's General Manager, Middle East. "We recently inaugurated a UAE-based hosting facility and brought on-line a dedicated global helpdesk to ensure high levels of service to valued customers such as Nakheel." BIW opened its Middle East office in Dubai in 2006.
