What is a news feed?

A news feed alerts you when a selected website has added new content, without the need to visit the website itself. Feeds are also known as RSS (Really Simple Syndication) and are essentially special webpages designed to be read by computers.

How do I start using feeds?

To access feeds, you need a news reader - a special kind of application that checks your selected feeds and lets you read any new articles that have been added. Some news readers are downloadable applications; others are accessed using a browser, and can be incorporated alongside other online information tools into personalised homepages.

RSS button

RSS FeedBy clicking on the RSS button you can subscribe to the feed; for example, drag the feed URL (ie: http://www.biwtech.com/media_centre_feed.xml) into your news reader or cut-and-paste the same URL into a new feed in your news reader. Most sites offering a feed use a similar orange button, but some may just have a normal web link.
