BIW becomes conject

Project control software specialist firming up complete Plan-Build-Operate portfolio

(21st March 2012)

UK-based project control specialist BIW is to commence rebranding itself as “conject” from 26 March 2012; the group’s operations across the UK, US and MEA will now all be managed under the conject name.

BIW was acquired by conject, Germany’s market leader for applications throughout the plan-build-operate lifecycle, in December 2010. Former BIW CEO Colin Smith is now CEO of the conject group and after completing integration of the two companies, is looking to extend adoption of the group’s product portfolio by customers worldwide. He says: “We are launching conject in the UK and rebranding BIW’s UK, US and MEA operations. Our focus is on supporting public and private owners and service providers from industries such as real estate, construction, infrastructure and utilities throughout the Plan-Build-Operate lifecycle. We remain committed to the principle of Software-as-a-Service, and will be bringing new commercial management and facilities management applications to the UK market during the next few months.”

The group now operates offices in the UK, Germany, Russia, Austria, Netherlands, USA, Singapore and the Middle East; it employs 145 people and is generating annual revenues in excess of €18 million. The group’s main investors are Early Bird and Seventure. It will maintain development and support centres in the UK and Germany.

Within a suite of applications covering the entire Plan-Build-Operate lifecycle, BIW’s core application is now the group’s standard project control platform and re-branded as conject Project Control, “conjectPC”. This is complemented by other group applications and recent functional releases, including Business Intelligence, QSHE Compliance, NEC3 Contract Management, Commercial Management and Enquiry Management.

Smith continues: “Over the coming months, existing BIW customers, partners and end-users will see little immediate change apart from a new logo, website and email addresses. However, the combined conject group is now much stronger, both financially and in terms of resources, and is extending its comprehensive, robust and integrated SaaS portfolio to offer a broader range of applications to our customers across the whole Plan-Build-Operate lifecycle. In addition, a new group wide product strategy incorporating Building Information Models (BIM) is being implemented to help our clients more effectively embrace BIM into their core project operations”
