BIW: Document Management is the application at the heart of the BIW: Collaboration system (previously known as BIW Information Channel). It makes the latest accurate information immediately available to every authorised team member. Participants create, issue and share information (drawings, sketches, comments, queries, requests for information, procedures, minutes, team member details, orders, variations, photographs, video, etc) via the internet anywhere, anytime.
Team members can view, manipulate, mark-up and comment on drawings and documents aiding collaboration, multiple users can even work upon the same document simultaneously. BIW: Document Management incorporates full revision and version control, and features a powerful search engine which allows users to find text within files and documents. A relational database ensures no problems with documents being mis-filed in the wrong folder a common complaint with folders-based systems. BIW provides a secure, simple-to-use, on-demand service via the internet, available 24 hours a day, every day. Implementation is simple. A user needs a PC or Mac with a browser and internet connection; otherwise, there is no need to replace, upgrade or purchase any new computer hardware, network systems or software. All data is hosted securely in a central repository, and all accesses to information are logged, providing a full audit trail (who did what and when is clear to everybody).
