In delivering our project control systems, we regard security as our highest priority. Even the minimum levels of secure access to BIW's systems are set at a high level. Our suite of applications has also been designed to allow you and your team to specify the levels of security, information transparency and confidentiality that are appropriate for your needs.

• secure client databases - for each implementation, BIW creates a private database, accessible by a unique web address (or URL: uniform resource locator). This URL is not submitted to search engines, so anyone surfing the web is unlikely to find the project login page by accident. BIW can offer customers secure connections using HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol over Secure Socket Layer) - banking-level security that means all exchanges between the user and the web server are encrypted
• only authorised individuals can access, view, exchange and work upon the information stored - access to the BIW system is controlled by the user's entry of a valid user name and a password, carefully managed with respect to 'time-outs' and to entry of the wrong login or password. Data access is matched to a users (and company's) role and responsibilities on a project or programme
• information flows are tailored to the needs of the project - the distribution of information is controlled by the project team using BIW's internal security and distribution configuration tools
• nothing can be deleted from the system, whether accidentally or maliciously - documents cannot be deleted from the system, nor can they be over-written
• all interactions are logged in the system's audit trail - every user interaction with BIW is recorded, keeping a time- and date-stamped record of who did what and when
